Veladora
2009 Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc
Sourced primarily from the Tofanelli as well as the Pestoni and Solari family vineyards, the 2009 Veladora Sauvignon Blanc is blended with small amounts of Muscat and Semillon. The name Veladora references the candles that grace the photograph on the front label. We choose to use an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe for the label to further convey our deep respect for and recognition of the Latino heritage of our fellow farm workers.
Tasting Notes
The 2009 Veladora has aromas of lush tropical fruits. Mango, peach, papaya and vanilla lead into a soft entry of ripe peach and tangerine. The mid-palate has lively acid and high tones of grapefruit and loquat. The finish is long and ripe with subtle hints of lemon rind.
Every day a large, mostly anonymous workforce of men and women labor hard in the vineyards and wineries of the Napa Valley. Most of them have left behind not only their country of origin but also their husbands, wives and children in order to make a better life and find a small piece of the American Dream. In an attempt to help them realize this dream we at Orin Swift Cellars will be donating 100% of the profits from this wine to Puertas Abiertas, or Open Doors. Puertas Abiertas is a coalition formed by our dear friend Father Gordon Kalil which provides dental services, counseling, and health screening for those in need without checking for Immigration status.
