Veladora
2010 Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc
Sourced primarily from the Tofanelli Vineyard in Calistoga, the 2010 Veladora Sauvignon Blanc is blended with small amounts of Muscat and Semillon. The name Veladora references the candles that grace the photograph on the front label. We chose to use an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe to further convey our deep respect for and recognition of the Latino heritage of our fellow farm workers.
Tasting Notes
The 2010 Veladora has bright floral aromas of honeysuckle and wisteria. A soft entry opens into a complex mid-palate with citrus and melon complimented by subtle acidity that leads into a soft, lingering finish of pear and kumquat.
Every day a large mostly anonymous workforce of men and women labor hard in the vineyards and wineries of the Napa Valley. Most of them have left behind not only their country of origin but also their husbands, wives, and children in order to make a better life and find a small piece of the American Dream. In an attempt to help them realize this dream we at Orin Swift Cellars will be donating 100% of the profits from this wine to Puertas Abiertas ("Open Doors"). Puertas Abiertas is a coalition formed by our dear friend Father Gordon Kalil which provides dental services, counseling and health screenings for those in need without checking for immigration status. For more information please visit Puertas Abiertas.
Your support is greatly appreciated.
